Etsy Store Opening

As aspiring jewelry designers, many of our students are in the process of determining which method of marketing suits their creative personality best. From online stores and blog maintenance to outdoor markets and trunk shows, the opportunities to establish a sales routine are seemingly limitless- but it can be tricky to decide which feels like an appropriate fit for a personal brand.

In an apparent merge of the best of both sales worlds, yesterday afternoon the Etsy Corporation announced the launch of their first ever brick and mortar shop, located inside the newly renovated lower level of the iconic Herald Square Macy’s in Manhattan.

This new store is featuring a meticulously curated selection of items made by eight of Etsy’s most popular sellers, providing them with a physical retail space in place of the brand’s traditionally online model. The selection of creations being sold includes everything from jewelry to homewares, and will be redesigned every six to eight weeks to feature new products corresponding with a particular theme.

“For designers to showcase their products to a diverse customer base in the exciting selling environment of Herald Square is an incredible opportunity for both wholesalers and customers,” says Marc Mastronardi, executive vice president of Accessories for Macy’s. “The new Etsy Shop at Macy’s Herald Square is a unique collaboration that enhances the in-store shopping experience for our customers.”
